At DRÄXLMAIER, we are looking for an Application Engineer Center of Competence who will drive global SMT process excellence, increase manufacturing performance, and help set technical standards across our international production network.
What Success Looks Like
- Establish and continuously improve global SMT inspection process standards that support consistent manufacturing excellence across multiple locations;
- Creates DFM guidelines for SMT manufacturability;
- Evaluates and validates new equipment, materials, and processes, and coordinates proof-of-concept activities and technical assessments;
- Participates in the selection of SMT suppliers and equipment (pre-acceptance and final acceptance);
- Lead initiatives that reduce defects, increase yield, improve process stability, and lower operational costs through technical innovation and automation;
- Drive the implementation and industrialization of new SMT inspection technologies, ensuring smooth deployment and measurable business impact;
- Act as the go-to technical authority for complex SMT process challenges, leading root cause investigations and implementing sustainable corrective actions;
- Evaluate and qualify new equipment, materials, and manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet performance, quality, and reliability targets;
- Develop the technical capabilities of Application Engineers and maintenance teams through knowledge transfer, coaching, and structured training programs;
- Provides expert support during escalations;
- Supports complex problem solving and process capability improvements.
What You Bring
- A degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field;
- Experience in manufacturing processes and industrial automation;
- At least 7 years of experience in electronics manufacturing and SMT processes of SPI/AOI/XRAY;
- Deep knowledge of Koh Young, Viscom & Parmi equipments;
- Strong knowledge of IPC-A-610 and SMT production environments;
- A continuous improvement mindset and a passion for solving technical problems through data and analysis;
- The ability to influence stakeholders, lead technical projects, and collaborate effectively within international teams;
- Good English communication skills and willingness to travel when required.
