Objective of Job
This position is responsible for the strategic direction, leadership and management of multiple departments including the Americas Indirect (Capital, Transport, Package, MRO, Services) department located in the US, Mexico, and Nicaragua. Managing and executing annual spends of approximately 500 million dollars combined. Acts as a business partner working with global PS/PP as well as other supporting department leadership to develop structure and improve both global and regional Procurement process and performance.
Principle Activities
- Plans and administer operational budgets in excess of aprox. 3M dollars for his/her areas of responsibility, in cooperation with the supervisors and in conjunction with global budget, and assures compliance with it.
- Develop and implement personnel planning in the area of responsibility, in cooperation with the supervisors; also make sure qualified personnel are hired.
- Develop Regional Indirect specific goals and strategies, break down and prioritize the Regional goals, follow up on goals and evaluate goal achievement
- Cooperate in the development of global and regional strategies and goals for purchasing and implement strategies
- Design/set up methods of resolution (primarily within a verified knowledge base) for differing and complex situations, including a detailed analysis of the situation/ causes.
- Develop commodity strategies for all responsible commodities.
- Assure global and regional sourcing and contract negotiation for all sites listed
- Develop and implement general conditions for purchasing activities
- Lead negotiations in escalation for difficult situations, or as part of the negotiation tactics
- Conclude contracts, taking into account cost optimization and supply security, within the framework of the internal control guidelines.
- Responsible to develop and offer concepts and tools for strategic planning regionally and globally.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in automotive/manufacturing procurement field
- Experience of 9 plus years in automotive manufacturing purchasing
- Working knowledge of quality systems and project leadership for 3-5 years
- Experience working with production processes including injection molding, stamping, holding, assembly, welding, and wiring harness production.
- Very strong in problem solving, analytical skills, and strategic thinking
- Woking with an intercultural team - German and Spanish languages are a plus
- Travel required
