Gage Engineer

Objective of the position 
Takes responsibility for the development and qualification of quality gages for carline projects at all interior sites in the region Americas. Coordinates and assures implementation of required changes to gages in series production or their necessary repair. Expert related to gages within the region Americas. 

Principal Activities:

• Act as an internal and external contact for all gage related questions (incl. development, maintenance, repair) within the Organization and provides related technical expertise.
• Review and provide input to DAK/STM for alignment and SPC content for Gages.
• Estimate fixture and gage cost for new program acquisition budgets
• Create RFQ’s and SC for each customer specific fixture development project.
• Work with Purchasing to support fixture sourcing through scorecard activities.
• Manage and track the transfer of all necessary data and drawings to the gage supplier.
• Conduct concept reviews with suppliers during gage design process along with Project Team based on machining process.
• Manage the gage design approval process with customer and plant representatives.
• Create and maintain a tracking matrix to include all required fixtures for each program.
• Monitor proper implementation of agreed plans by the fixture supplier to assure fixture availability in accordance to defined timelines, costs and quality expectations.
• Coordinate required Qualification activities prior to release for series production.
• Ensure upload of fixture documentation (e.g. gage certification, Gage R&R, Design, etc.) to PLM for plant and customer approval.
• Coordinate with transportation for all fixture and gage shipments.
• Provide engineering estimates and quotes for all ECR related fixture changes.
• Provide plant site support for all fixture issues encountered in series production including necessary repairs as needed.
• Coordinate fixture Upgrades related to change management in series production.
• Assure the definition or further development of existing processes and process documents within his/her area of responsibility in Cooperation with relevant groups.
• Support Gage Suppliers with Invoicing issues.
• Available to travel to supplier or customer locations if needed (Gages approvals)
• Authority to stop production lines in case of deviations or when the quality standards are not accomplished

Requirements:

Professional career:

• Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Administrative Mechanical, Electric, Chemistry, Electronic or related Engineering.

Relevant experience: 

• Minimum five years of quality or engineering in a high volume automotive interiors
• Expert knowledge Machining process
• GD&T Interpretation

Technical knowledge:

• Gages Standards/ Approval/Verification & Maintenance
• Gage Budget Planning
• GD&T Interpretation
• Metrology
• Product Design Softwares
• IS related products injection & thermoformed o Commodity related.
