Objective of Job

Verify requirements for the performance of tests and simulations to validate the functions

Act as an internal and external contact person within his/her own area of expertise and further develop the processes/methods.

 

Principle Activities

  • Plan all the functional validation contents in the acquisition phase
  • Compile offers/cost estimates for functional validation of the products/production and logistics and coordinate with all the involved departments
  • If necessary, release data on the function by specified milestones
  • Functional lead, instruct and train employees
  • Responsible for compiling and maintaining simulation and trial planning as well as coordinating it internally and externally
  • Make development status analyses and initiate an increase in development status with regards to functional content
  • Ensure adherence to the budget for functional validation
  • Responsible for punctual processing of the contents of the functional validation (simulation, trials) in compliance with the overall schedule of the relevant milestones
  • Responsible within the scope of his/her activities for continual increase of the development status up to confirmation of the customer’s requirements (ready for series production)
  • Ensure a continual improvement process and avoid planning errors within his/her area of activity on the basis of comprehensive findings and experience within the project
  • Responsible for carrying out S&R analyses and for implementing the derived measures
  • Present and represent trial and simulation results internally and to the customer. Plan, carry out, evaluate and document all the assigned extent of simulations
  • Responsible in his/her simulation work for continual increase of the development status, up to confirmation of the customer’s requirements (ready for series production)
  • The aim is to save time and costs by means of planning and performing effective simulations
  • Incorporate lessons learned from previous projects
  • Compile a functional profile/the requirement specification
  • Compile a lessons learned report upon project completion
  • Compile and maintain the simulation plans according to internal and OEM regulations
  • Coordinate the simulation contents with development project management and the responsible department at the OEM’s plant
  • Participate in internal and external project meetings (status of simulation, testing, …)
  • Responsible for simulation and problem-solving for DRX and supplier volumes in cooperation with Development, i.e. independently
    • analyzing simulation results in cooperation with the project team
    • requesting and controlling improvement measures internally and to the suppliers. Compiling documentation on the basis of an LOP
    • compiling simulation reports with results analyses (according to DRX specifications),
  • Implement and coordinate the extent of the simulations:
    • Coordinate and reserve resources internally and from external service providers
    • Check and ensure that simulations are correctly carried out according to DRX and customer specifications
    • Statistical calculations
    • Dynamic calculations
    • FEM model creation
    • Plan and carry out trials to determine material data
    • Compile material cards according to DRX specifications
    • Compile technicl reports
    • Prepare presentations
  • Present the simulation results to the relevant contacts of the OEM.
  • Assume responsibility for delivering simulation results on time in compliance with the simulation schedule or the overall schedule for each of the milestones

 

Special Authorizations

(e.g. powers of attorney, guidelines competence, authorities, information rights, references to legal or standards-relevant authorized representatives, etc.)

  • Technical executive authority for the assigned project team.
  • Reporting requirements within the project organization.

Signatory powers according to the signing rules of the Dräxlmaier Group.

 

Job Requirements

  • Polytechnic/university degree and 3 to 5 years of work experience OR comparable training
  • Has managed at least 2 projects in the role of the functional head or has comparable work experience
  • Expertise in development and/or production in the automotive area
  • Above-average skills in applying current FEM software (Abaqus, LS-Dyna, Hypermesch, etc.) and user skills in UNIX/Linux
  • Analytical, structural mindset
  • Team leadership ability
  • Presentation skills
  • Good spoken and written command of English
  • Above-average skills in analyzing errors, recognizing problems and working out solutions
  •  Strong customer orientation and communication skills, particularly to coordinate controversial technical matters
