Automation Engineer

Objective of job:
- Maintain and improve the high level of technology in the manufacturing plant.
- Optimize the machine processes to improve cycle time, scrap reduction, quality defects, etc.
- Work with Process Engineering Plastics & MTE to execute process improvements for all carlines.
- Manage and maintain control of serial manufacturing processes to achieve plant objectives.
Principal activities:
- Troubleshoot Complex Manufacturing Issues: Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to diagnose and resolve intricate issues related to processes, materials, or machine functionality.
- Maintain Equipment Program Database: Manage a comprehensive database of all equipment programs and passwords to ensure secure access and efficient maintenance.
- Upgrade PLC Programs: Implement updates to PLC programs to accommodate new hardware installations and optimize system performance.
- Enhance Equipment Maintenance: Upgrade equipment to reduce maintenance repair time and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
- Optimize Robot Programs: Fine-tune robot programs to streamline processes and increase productivity.
- Revise Equipment Programs: Modify equipment programs to align with line balancing requirements as specified by Production and Industrial Engineering.
- Integrate New Technology: Implement advanced technologies, such as cameras and sensors, to improve process efficiency and quality.
- Support Engineering Change Orders: Assist Production Engineering in resolving complex engineering changes (PI/ECR) to ensure smooth implementation.
- Integrate Production Tracking Systems: Collaborate with production teams to integrate tracking systems for efficient data collection and analysis.
- Support Project Implementation: Contribute to project teams by assisting with the installation, commissioning, and sign-off of new processes and equipment.
- Provide Technical Training: Train Engineering Technicians on new equipment and programming procedures to enhance their skills and capabilities.
- Increase the process maturity level based on the evaluation results of the produced parts, with the objective of achieving the required properties of the product through a robust process configuration.
- Collaborating with various production and support areas to provide integral solutions.
- Participation in the industrialization workshop: developing the prototype and being actively involved in the kick-off meetings for new projects.
- Defining maintenance concepts in conjunction with the maintenance department.
- Maintain equipment documentation (machine manual, drawings, backup programs, etc.).
- Responsible in assisting Maintenance to understand PMs and determine what spare parts are required.
- Some travel is required (10%)
Job requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 3 to 5 years of Automated Manufacturing.
- 1 to 2 years of just in time (JIT) principles.
Pay:
- $90,000.00 to $110,000.00 depending on experience.
