Objective of job:

  • Provide strategic support to plant processes focused on the prevention/elimination of non-conformances through disciplined problem solving and continuous improvement activities.

 

 

Principal activities:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by supporting production and delivery of conforming product to customer
  • Supports as representative of Quality to ensure compliance with internal, external, and customer audits based on defined internal and external standards
  • Monitoring of process and product characteristics to ensure conformity to defined standards and specifications
  • Employing robust problem solving methodology focused on prevention/elimination of recurrence of non-conformances
  • Implementing corrective actions and continuous monitoring of corrective actions effectiveness
  • Provide cross-functional support as representative from Quality Department with expertise in customer requirements (engineering changes, various projects, etc.)
  • Communication with customer interfaces to support effective and timely response for various activities
  • Ensures required inspections within the production process are conducted in accordance with control plan.
  • Provides and/or maintains documentation per standards as required for all relevant quality related documents
  • Provides and/or maintains and regularly verifies reference / boundary samples within assigned area of responsibility
  • Facilitates the problem solving process for non-conformities (identified internally or communicated by customer)
  • Coordinates sorting and containment activities when necessary, conducts root cause analysis, and ensures corrective/preventative action implementation through interdepartmental cooperation
  • Documents and communicates results and actions of problem solving process to required contacts and systems (internal or external)
  • Participates in change management processes and/or projects as subject matter expert for quality specific elements (including testing, validation, documentation, etc.) in cooperation with change management and/or project team
  • Establishes / maintains proper PPAP status and documentation for all assigned commodities by supporting the central PPAP coordinator in the timely submission of required PPAP's
  • Participates in audits as required, including internal, external, and customer audits
  • Ensures completion of product audits within assigned area of responsibility
  • Leads, coaches, supervises and motivates direct reports to ensure proper training and performance based on existing processes, policies and targets
  • Ensures proper function / maintenance / calibration / training as required of all quality equipment within assigned area of responsibility such as test equipment / fixtures / gages etc. in cooperation with involved departments / Quality Service group.
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and/or products and actively participates in implementation of corrective actions to achieve improvements where applicable
  • Reports necessary information at department or plant level for key performance indicators for assigned commodities
  • Supports target achievement at individual, department, plant, and global level
  • Provides technical guidance to Quality team regarding day to day activities
  • Provides technical guidance to organization regarding customer requirements
  • Infrequent travel both domestic and international as required
  • Off-shift work including weekends as required
  • Performs any other tasks or assignments not listed within this job description as deemed necessary for the department / company as requested by the department manager

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a complex manufacturing facility
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in automotive (interiors prefered)
  • Strong technical knowledge with Quality Methods
  • Strong technical with problem solving methodologies
