Objective of Job:

  • Provide strategic support to plant processes focused on the prevention/elimination of non-conformances through disciplined problem solving, process monitoring, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by supporting production and delivery of conforming product to customer.


Principle Activities:

Product Expert

  • Provides technical guidance and cross-functional support to organization regarding customer requirements
  • Monitor process and product characteristics to ensure conformity to defined standards and specifications
  • Provides, maintains and regularly verifies reference / boundary samples
  • Participates in change management processes and/or projects as subject matter expert for customer quality specific elements (including testing, validation, documentation, etc.)
  • Establishes and maintains PPAP status and documentation for assigned commodities by supporting central PPAP coordinator in timely submission of required PPAP's
  • Ensures proper function, maintenance, calibration and training of quality equipment within assigned commodity such as test equipment, fixtures, gages etc. in cooperation with involved departments and Quality Service group.
  • Process owner of Control Plans.  Maintains Control Plans and revises for product and process changes.

Problem Solving

  • Facilitates and provides expert guidance in the problem solving process for non-conformities (identified internally or communicated by customer)
  • Designs, implements and maintains effective containment processes
  • Conducts root cause analysis and implements effective corrective action per time table required by system or customer.
  • Documents and communicates results and actions of problem solving process to required contacts and systems (internal or external)

Audit Support

  • Ensures compliance with internal, external, and customer audits based on defined standards
  • Supports internal and external audits as representative of Quality
  • Designs, implements and maintains systems to provide adherence to audit standards in assigned commodity


  • Implements effective corrective action for findings
  • Plans and conducts Product and Control Plan audits to confirm defined inspections are in place

Leadership of Quality Technicians

  • Leads, coaches, supervises and motivates direct reports to ensure proper training and performance based on existing processes, policies and targets
  • Provides technical guidance to Quality team regarding day to day activities

Communication including Documentation and Reporting

  • Reports necessary information at department or plant level for key performance indicators for assigned commodities
  • Communicates with customer interfaces to support effective and timely response for various activities
  • Provides and/or maintains documentation per standards as required for all relevant quality related documents


  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and/or products and actively participates in implementation of corrective actions to achieve improvements where applicable
  • Supports target achievement at individual, department, plant, and global level
  • Infrequent travel both domestic and international as required
  • Off-shift work including weekends as required
  • Performs any other tasks or assignments not listed within this job description as deemed necessary for the department / company as requested by the department manager.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field (Preferred)


  • Quality Certifications (Preferred)

ASQ Certification as Quality Engineer

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt


Work Experiene:

Experience in a complex manufacturing facility:  3-5 years

Experience in Automotive industry ( interior segment preferred): 3-5 years

Problem solving experience with structured problem solving methodology: 3-5 years

Leadership experience: 3-5 years
