Head of Accounting US

Objective of job:

Supervise, lead and develop the Accounting Department in the USA in order to assure and meet all local legal (commercial and tax law) requirements and the Corporate requirements (IFRS) and Standards in the field of Accounting. 

Principle Activities:

• Implement and review the implementation of set accounting rules USA.
• Act as internal and external contact person (e.g. special major requests from other departments and communication with Tax authorities) within his/her own areas of expertise.
• Works with Head of Accounting Americas and other departments to ensure adherence to procedures and guidelines.
• Maintain and report IFRS, US GAAP accounting standards in accordance with Head of Accounting Americas as well as Group Accounting.
• Assure payments to suppliers in time and according terms.
• First contact for auditors (external & internal).
• Implement and follow-up on set Goals for the GL/Tax area in the US.
• Supports the implementation and administers new Systems and new procedures as needed.
• Conduct mainly conceptual activities; cooperate in the strategy development of department (e.g. determine strategies and goals within the area responsibility, in cooperation with line managers, etc.)
• Complies with various reporting as legally needed or Corporate required or demanded by management, independent auditors, and governmental agencies.
• Determine and optimize internal Standards and complex processes within his/her own and neighboring fields of expertise, taking into account relevant Systems, instruments and methods (e.g. accounting Standards worldwide for all businesses in the Company, interpret the accounting laws and their Implementation, etc.)
• Observe/identify long term trends in his/her area of expertise in order to develop concepts; suggest recommendations for action.
• Recognize general need for continuing education in his/her own field within the Company; plan and conduct internal and external training or complex topics as needed.
• Identify general training needs within own area of expertise according to the corporate’s policy.
• Supporting the definition and optimization of internal standards and complex processes within the own area of expertise (e.g. maintaining, supporting and reviewing of internal process which affects US accounting as well).
• Observe/identify trends in the field to develop concepts; propose recommendations for action in US Accounting.
• Prepare cash flow statements on a group and segment basis.
• Ensure data provision, clarify business transactions and detailed accounting issues (e.g. interfacing with Group Accounting and related month-end, quarter-end and year-end tasks)
• Participating on coming accounting projects (e.g. synapsis)
• Directing and supporting associates to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality, environmental, occupational, health and safety (ISO 45001) management systems.
• Responsible for respecting the DRÄXLMAIER Group Information Security Policy in their respective area of responsibility. Is also committed to meeting the business information security challenges of the organization. Promotes and supports the effort to deploy implementing the appropriate financial and human resources.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance desired. 
• 6 to 8 years of Tax Accounting experience. 
• 6 to 8 years of Reporting under IFRS and US Tax Standards is a plus.
• Strong technical knowledge with SAP & MS Office.
• Very strong technical knowledge with Financial Reporting and IFRS Accounting.
