Objective of Job:

This position will support engineering and production in optimizing productivity of upcoming and existing programs. Ensures that production processes are followed and are reliable. 

Principle Activities: 

  • Support Production Engineering, Production, and Maintenance teams in identifying and isolating simple manufacturing issues related to processes, materials, tooling, and equipment functionality.
  • Support Production Engineering initiatives focused on reducing cycle times, improving process stability, and increasing the efficiency of automated equipment.
  • Assist with program launches and production start-ups involving manufacturing processes, equipment, machinery, tooling, fixtures, and jigs.
  • Research and evaluate emerging manufacturing technologies and automation solutions to support continuous improvement and maintain competitiveness within the automotive manufacturing industry.
  • Support Production Engineering on small-scale projects, including automation improvements, PLC-related projects, equipment enhancements, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain process datasheets and supporting documentation as approved by Production Engineering. All process changes must be properly validated prior to implementation.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and other support departments in scheduling, executing, documenting, and reporting production trials.
  • Collect SPC and process performance data on key manufacturing processes and work with Production Engineering to analyze results and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Effectively communicate safety, quality, production, equipment, and process concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Support equipment installations, equipment relocations, tooling changes, and process validation activities under the direction of Production Engineering.
  • Safely operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs) to transport materials, tooling, fixtures, and equipment as required.
  • Prepare, install, remove, store, and maintain production tools, fixtures, jigs, and related equipment according to established procedures and engineering requirements.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostic activities on assembly and automated manufacturing equipment under the guidance of Production Engineering or Maintenance personnel.
  • Make approved adjustments to equipment settings and machine controls to correct routine process issues, conduct test runs, and verify proper operation.
  • Complete assigned preventive maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and associated documentation in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
  • Travel up to 5% as required for training, and other possible plant operation needs
